Japanese Cultural Village for Kids and Adults

Below is the information on the cultural village for last year’s Japan festival. Until new details are released for 2012, this will remain for historic purposes.

Visit the Japanese Cultural Village for fun activities for kids and adults. Young and old attendees will be entertained with many opportunities to experience the “real” Japan here in Kansas City. Adult supervision is required for all children 10 and under. No babysitting services will be provided.

The “Village” is open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Origami Crane Making for the Thousand Crane Project Japan Relief Benefit – Room 128

In addition to the “Origami Crane Making for The Thousand Cranes Project Japan Relief Benefit Project”, children can come to the “Village” and learn how to do Origami and play traditional Japanese children’s games.”

Kimono and Samurai Armor Portraits

Dress up in an authentic Kimono (both women and men’s Kimono are available) or in a suit of Samurai Armor and have your picture taken. An opportunity of a lifetime!

 

Design your own Japanese T-shirt

Children can choose from a wide variety of Japanese shapes and emblems and apply them to a T-shirt using long-lasting heat transfer.

Face and Nail Painting

Come to the “Village” and have your face or nails painted by experts.

Cultural Village Bazaar

Enjoy shopping at the “Village” bazaar for Japanese handicraft items and toys for children.
